After a very long and uncertain home buying process, we closed on a new house just a few miles from our current place on Hillendale Road. Making the decision to purchase this house was not an easy one. We were just about to leave for Spain the day we got word this place came on the market. The initial walkthrough revealed a place in great need of upgrades and long overdue maintenance. Just one day before leaving, we made the leap and put an offer on the place. After waiting for 6 months for the sellers to overcome complications on their end, we were finally able to get an inspection, which further complicated our process, as it revealed serious moisture control problems, major settling under a section of the home, significant termite damage, and several other less severe problem. We had several contractors in for their opinion on these issues, and after some price adjustments and long nights thinking this over, we proceeded to closing and finally too posession on April 19 2008.
